An odd article from the New York Times this week talks about skate shoes of all things. All-in-all it’s a fairly mundane piece with few revelations — Yes, skate footwear is worn by non-skaters too. Yes, everyone knows this. Yes, skate shoe companies remember when this wasn’t the case. Yes, skate shoes still need to be able to perform on a skateboard. Pretty standard stuff. I suppose with more and more non-skaters wearing DC’s, Supra’s and Nike SB’s people like NYT fashion writers start to take notice.

The title says it all on this one. Complete with a glow-in-the-dark swoosh, the dark horse of the SB family, the Zoom Tre A.D. gets another fresh makeover. This time it’s the Marty McFly/Back to the Future colorway, originally featured on the Air McFly Hyperdunk.

We’re definitely an instant fan of this one and can’t wait for it to drop later this year, but keeping up with the color releases on this one is becoming a full-time job!

Today it’s DC’s turn to shine in our product spotlight with the Biltmore S.
Since being acquired by surf giant Quicksilver in 2004, DC has had a tough time coming out with the stylish, functional skate footwear it was once known for. That said, early this year DC finally got back to their roots with the Biltmore S. Featuring a super strong suede upper and a supple/sticky rubber sole, the shoe matches solid skate tech with classic DC style.
DC changed the game in the mid-90′s by releasing such iconic skate shoes as Howard I and later the Howard II (which this design harkens back to). We’re glad to see DC come full circle, and are looking forward to the trend continuing.
Description:
The Biltmore S is constructed of Super Suede that is 70% stronger then normal suede and made for skateboarding. The Biltmore features DGT Plus technology with exceptionally soft rubber in key areas for supreme grip and control of your skateboard. The Biltmore was made to last a long, long time.

Features:

  • Heavy duty Super Suede upper for added durability while maintaining the feel of traditional suede.
  • Perforated upper panel for improved ventilation.
  • Elastic gore tongue holder.
  • Foam-padded tongue and collar for added comfort and support.
  • Performance cup sole construction for strength and flexibility.
  • Leather belt strap for additional tightening.
  • Innovative DGT rubber bottom design for enhanced board control and durabilty.
  • DC’s trademark pill pattern sole.
Original release date: January 2008
List price: $79
Known colorways: Black/Royal (blue), Black/Armor (red)

Variants: Biltmore 80′s
